Chili Cook-off Benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project

Saturday, October 8

Entry fee is $10 per pot of chili, and you can enter as many pots as you want.

$5 gets a wristband to try the tasting cups at each entry OR purchase one regular cup of chili.

Winner of the contest will get a $20 gift certificate to be used at the park.

Runner up gets a $10 gift certificate to be used at the park.

All proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project. (Extra donations welcome.)

RULES

Entry can be a single person or a team, but only one gift certificate given for the winning entry.

Contestants must furnish their own ingredients, cooking and serving utensils, equipment, fuel (anything
used to actually make/serve the chili). Fireside will provide tasting cups and spoons for voters and
regular cups can be purchased by anyone who just wants chili. Napkins will also be provided.

Contestants should cook a minimum of two gallons of chili.

Chili is to be cooked at individual campsites and brought, ready for consumption, to the judging station.

Please provide an ingredient list for judges. (Not your recipe. We just want to make sure no one has an
annoying allergic reaction.)

Entries can’t come out of a can or be store bought. They must be cooked on-site.

Contestants are responsible for maintaining the chili at the proper temperature for serving.
Please label your chili mild, medium, or spicy.


INGREDIENTS

Your chili, your recipe! With or without beans. With or without meat. Beef, pork, turkey, venison, lamb,
chicken, even vegetarian. It’s up to you.


VOTING

Each pot of chili will be given a number.

Those wishing to take part in the voting will pay a $5 fee and be given a wristband. The wristband allows
the participant to receive sample cups at each chili entry. When the voter makes their decision, they will
then write the number of their choice on the wristband and turn it in at the bar by 2:45pm.

If they so desire, a voter can buy as many wristbands as s/he wants, enabling them to cast several votes
for their favorite chili. (We’ll even allow the contestant to buy the wristbands and give them to the
voters but the wristbands must be blank while tasting so the voter actually makes the decision.)

Those not wishing to vote can still pay $5 and receive one bowl. They can then go to the contestant of
their choice for their chili. If they want seconds, they have to purchase another bowl. (It’s for the
Wounded Warriors, remember.)


TIMING

Entries must be at the judging area by 1:50 pm
Tasting starts at 2:00.

Votes must be turned in at the bar by 2:45, at which time, votes will be tallied. (Late votes will not be
counted.)

Winner will be announced at 3:00

Join us this Saturday, May 8th as we celebrate Mother’s Day weekend at Fireside! Win some great prizes for mom in our jambalaya cook-off – all proceeds are going to St Jude Children’s Hospital!

Jambalaya cook-off details and rules

Start time:
Tasting begins at noon, judging will be held at 1 PM.

Registration:
Guests wanting to enter the contest (cooking) will pay their $10 entry fee at check-in. Guests wanting to take part in eating (sampling each entry) will pay their $5 taster fee (per person) at check-in as well. Tasters will be given special wristbands which must be worn during the tasting period.

Prizes:
First place: Free weekend (non-holiday) at a Fireside RV camp site + $100 Ulta gift card.
Second place: $50 Ulta gift card.
Third place: $25 Ulta gift card.

Extra details:
Guests cooking may do so at their own camp site. We will be providing bowls & forks for the tasters. Judging will be held by a panel of resort staff. There are no rules on ingredients or preparation – this is a charity event to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend, we just want everyone to have fun and enjoy some good food!
